PSCI 471 - American Constitutional Law

Case studies of judicial policy-making by interpretation of the United States Constitution. Topics may include federalism and the separation of powers, civil rights and liberties, and/or comparison of non-U.S. legal systems. Students interested in pursuing further study or careers in law or law enforcement may be particularly interested in this course; how-ever, it is designed to be useful to all students and citizens. Students will be asked to write case briefs and opinions, and make oral presentations of both their own and historical figures’ constitutional thinking.

Prerequisite(s): PSCI 250 , and either PHL 122 , SOCI 203  or HSTR 200 ; or c/i.
