EQUS 155 - Harness Horsemanship I 3 Credit(s) This course will expand the student’s skills and knowledge of, and communication with horses by learning to drive the animals. Students will discover the ability to achieve impulsion, feel, timing, responsiveness, cooperation and respect without being in physical contact with the animal. While the bulk of classes will be hands-on lab classes, students will also receive an overview of the history of driving, draft horse breeds, conformation, harness types and fit. Assessment will be made through written examination and daily demonstration of skills. Safety will be stressed at all times, both in groundwork and from the driver’s seat.
