EDU 397P - Methods: Science and Social Studies for 4th-8th Grade Teachers

Candidates develop 4-8^th grade science and social studies instruction and assessments that are aligned with state and national standards and the principles of universal design for learning. Candidates gain familiarity with instructional methods and materials appropriate for teaching content and problem-solving skills, primarily through inquiry and experiential learning. Candidates develop skills in integrated instruction by incorporating social studies into physical, earth, and life science instruction. Infused topics include technology, lab safety, cooperative learning, assessment, environmental education, and Indian Education for All. Students will demonstrate skills through microteaching of science and social studies lessons.
