EQUS 123 - Farrier Science: Horse Shoeing

In this course, the student will learn the principles of horseshoeing. The concept of trimming and shoeing as it relates to normal and lame horses will be reviewed. Hand tools for trimming and shoeing will be demonstrated. The student will gain a hands on understanding of tools used for horse shoeing and the use and costs of these tools. Students are expected to demonstrate a hands on understanding and comprehension of horse shoeing and how to safely get around the horse and under the horse to work. Students will be evaluated based on knowledge of course content through class discussions, course examinations, and other written and lab assignments. $35 Course Fee
