4 Credit(s)
This course will continue to introduce the intermediate student to new universal topics and techniques related to glass as a technical material, in tandem with using glass as an expressive material to convey artistic ideas. Blowing, sculpting, and coldworking glass as well as studio equipment operations will be covered in additional depth. The intermediate student will help beginning students learn safe movement through the hot glass studio and will further their own practice and understanding of teamwork to create finished glass work. Concept development in work created in this course will express a personal perspective at an intermediate level. Assessment will be based on assigned intermediate exercises, the creation of 3-4 projects using glass, a daily journal/sketchbook, and presentation of a final PowerPoint portfolio. A minimum of 9 hours lab time per week will be required. $150 course fee
