DANC 101 - Performance, History, and Culture of Dance 4 Credit(s) Students will examine the role of dance from prehistoric to contemporary eras with a focus on cultural and societal significance and development of skills necessary to plan and perform a variety of dance forms. An emphasis will be placed on the role and importance of dance in the heritage of cultures from around the globe and local communities, including the indigenous peoples of Montana. Students will review historical and present-day information and develop their understanding of the diversities of dance and society throughout history. Students will demonstrate competency through class participation, quizzes, peer teaching, choreography, performance, and projects.
