LIT 264 - American Romanticism and Realism 4 Credit(s) This course explores American literature from the early 19th to the early 20th century, a period marked by profound cultural, social, and political transformation in the United States. Covering key literary movements including Romanticism, Transcendentalism, and Realism, LIT 264 examines the ways that writers of the times both shaped and reflected America’s evolving identity. A variety of teaching and learning practices are included in this course: e.g., traditional lecture, oral readings, group discussions, creative and/or analytical writing, listening activities, oral and/or dramatic presentations, visits with authors, interviews, internet and off-campus activities, research practice, etc.
