BIOB 103 - Issues in Biology 4 Credit(s) Students will understand and evaluate scientific methods to develop an appreciation of science as a process. They will, therefore, develop critical thinking skills to evaluate scientific arguments related to issues in biology. Through this process, students will read and interpret scientific literature to increase their confidence in engaging with primary sources. Content goals for this course are to develop an understanding of core biological principles and how they relate to current issues. Topics include cell biology, evolution, energy transformations in living systems, fundamental genetics and genetic engineering, cell division and cancer growth, human population growth, and human impacts on ecosystems. Prereq: B- or higher in M090 or meet one Math Proficiency standard, or c/i. Gen Ed: Nat Sci. (spring)
