ARTZ 345 - Advanced Glassblowing and Sculpting 4 Credit(s) This course will require the advanced student to develop a research path from a personal and original topic. In tandem with using glass as an expressive material to convey artistic ideas, the advanced student will work with advanced techniques. Advanced blowing, sculpting, and coldworking glass techniques will be covered in additional depth. The advanced student will take on a mentoring role of beginning and intermediate students to teach safe movement through the hot glass studio and operation of equipment. The advanced student will further their own practice and understanding of teamwork to create more complex finished glass work. Concept development in work created in this course will express a personal perspective at an advanced level. Assessment will be based on assigned advanced exercises, the creation of 3-4 projects, a daily journal/sketchbook, and presentation of a final PowerPoint portfolio. A minimum of 9 hours lab time per week will be required. $150 course fee
